Nutcracker Suite by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn

New World Ballet and the Marcus Shelby Orchestra come together in this special holiday production of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s Nutcracker Suite.

New World Ballet students, Junior Company, and Senior Company members will share the stage alongside professional dancers with live accompaniment by the Marcus Shelby Orchestra.

In Act I, the re-imagination of the E.T.A. Hoffmann holiday classic takes place in 1920’s Harlem and features a diverse cast of characters. In Act II, New World Ballet’s Junior and Senior companies will perform pieces to holiday favorites such as Santa Baby and Winter Wonderland!

The production is choreographed by New World Ballet’s esteemed Artistic Director, Victor Temple (Dance Theater of Harlem, Oakland Ballet, Cirque du Soleil).
