Rohnert Park Chamber Board of Directors
California needs your help to make economic growth the highest priority for state policymakers. Instead of focusing on a strategy for prosperity in the 21st century, legislators are preoccupied with business as usual: short-term budget fixes and legislation aimed at scoring political points for special interests rather than creating opportunities for all Californians.
The California Chamber of Commerce is asking for your support and ideas for a new Agenda for Renewal and Prosperity that promotes economic growth and government accountability. We need your help to persuade policymakers to put aside their ideological differences to develop a comprehensive strategy for revitalizing and renewing California’s economy.
We believe the agenda should be based on two fundamental principles that can serve as the starting point for reviving and reinventing California’s economy:
- State policymakers must make economic growth a central goal as they consider legislation, the state budget, the operation of state agencies and all other state efforts.
- State leaders must ensure that every law, regulation and program achieves its goals with the greatest transparency and the least adverse effect on the California economy and investment climate.
Accompanying this letter for your review is the draft agenda outlining four proactive reforms that will move California forward:
- Develop a comprehensive economic growth strategy
- Drive business investment and retention.
- Require an assessment of economic impacts of laws and regulations.
- Establish accountability measures to be sure government is working.
Your involvement in this campaign is essential for its success. We will be contacting you shortly to obtain your thoughts about this important project and your ideas for making government a partner in economic development and job creation. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me. You also can direct any questions about this project to Daniel Conway with KP Public Affairs, (916) 498-7738, dconway@ka-pow.com.
Sincerely,
Allan Zaremberg
President and Chief Executive Officer
